The crack shown in the glass below is a single line. Often a single line crack will begin and/or end at one of the glass retaining screws. This type of crack is often due to a defect in the glass, or an installation issue, where the retaining screws did not receive equal pressure. If you have this type of crack in your Kuma stove glass, please contact us to see about a replacement. Please note: The lifetime warranty for glass allows for a one-time replacement. Any glass that has been replaced under the warranty, or purchased as a replacement part has a 90-day warranty.
Definitely not covered under the warranty
The breakage shown below is often described as a starburst or sunburst pattern. This type of break occurs exclusively due to wood impact, usually when the wood is too long. This type of break most commonly occurs when the door is latched against a long piece of wood that becomes wedged between the glass and the back of the stove. The break may occur immediately when latching the door or with some delay. If a piece of wood is only a fraction too long, the break may occur minutes or hours later as the stove heats up and natural movement creates interference. If a piece of wood is more than a fraction too long, the break will happen immediately as leverage from the door latching creates the interference.
Could be covered under the warranty
The crack shown in the glass below is a dual-line or multi-line crack that can be caused by wood impact but can also be a defect in the glass or an issue with the installation, where the retaining screws did not receive equal pressure. Please be prepared to send us a picture of the glass and describe how you think the glass broke, whether it happened during latching or later, and whether or not wood length may have been a factor.
